Welcome To The
Herpetologists' League

The Herpetologists' League, established in 1946, is an international organization of people devoted to studying herpetology -- the biology of amphibians and reptiles. HL publishes two scholarly journals -- the quarterly Herpetologica, which contains original research papers and essays, and the annual supplement Herpetological Monographs, which contains lengthy research articles, syntheses, and special symposia.

2012 E.E. Williams Grant winners announced!

HL congratulates the following students as this year's winners in the five categories of the E.E. Williams Research Grants.  Each student's name is followed by the category and their project title.  Beck Wehrle (behavior):  Testing the role of sociality in transferring digestive microbes in hatchling Green Iguanas (Iguana iguana).  Rodrigo Ferreira (conservation):  Investigating causes of bromeliad-dwelling frog declines in Brazil’s Atlantic rainforest.  Jason Warner (ecology):  Cold-hardiness of liolaemid lizards living along an elevation gradient.  Kristina Cohen (morphology/systematics):  Mechanisms of environmentally cued hatching in anurans.  Robert Literman (physiology):  Using next-generation sequencing to explore the molecular mechanisms underlying temperature-dependent sex determination: How do embryos sense temperature?
